Last month we went up to Seattle to spend some time with Adam. We had some wonderful weather and spent some time just hanging out together. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Planter Box
This past weekend was so nice and warm and sunny, that we decided it was time to plant some flowers. It's actually stayed nice here for almost a whole week now! I wouldn't mind if it wanted to stick around forever :) We planted some violas and pansies in some hanging baskets and then some dahlias in the big planter box.
Here is the progress of making the planter box from the beginning to the finished product!

Can't wait until it's actually spring and I get to see all the pretty flowers we planted!

Cross Country Skiing
So not much has happened since the new year began. I have been super busy with school and work. I am applying to OHSU for nursing and that application process has kept me pretty busy too. I am only taking something like 16 credits, but I'm in class that are longer than the number of hours I get credit for (sit in class for 6 hours a week and get 3 credits out of it, or 3 hours for 2 credits...real fun!).
Rich has been really busy at work this year, and thankfully hasn't been effected at all by this recession. He's just working away, doing a great job!
We were able to get away this past weekend and go cross country skiing with some couples from our Young Marries group at church. We had a good time, but I'm still not sure if I like it yet. It's not bad, it just don't really enjoy it as much as some other people...But I'll go!
It was snowing most of the time, so that was fun. Plus there was an area with 8 tents or so set up with all kind of things. REI was there giving away free chapstick and fruit snacks (Rich said he hoped they were at least healthy because they tasted horrible). Then they were having free burgers and brauts for lunch if we came back in time....and believe me, we were back in time!
Here are some pictures of us (actually mostly me since Rich had the camera the whole time) having a good time and falling....well, me falling.

Happy New Year!
This New Year weekend we went up to see Adam in Seattle. We had such a great time. We ended up getting to his place about 9pm. It felt late, but then again, it didn't really matter because you have to stay up long enough to ring in the new year. So really we were like 3 hours early. Anyway, we got there and we saw the house, ate some yummy pizza and we were going to do taquitos but forgot....oops. We had some little snacks too so we could stay awake. We could see the space needle from his windows so we watched when all the fireworks went off. It was really cool but since it was cloudy, all the smoke from the fireworks just kind of hovered around the space needle. We still saw most of them, but a few were hidden behind the clouds of smoke.
The next day we got up and went to the Museum of Flight! It was great. AND THE CAMERA COOPERATED!! Long enough for some pictures...not all the time, but at least we got some pictures!

Inside the red barn where Boeing all began...
Air Force One
Inside Air Force Once
The Concorde...it's huge on the outside and really tiny inside and it went really really fast!
WWII exhibits (we didn't get any of WWI)

The more modern airplanes...lots of those! (we didn't get any of the space area either)

Oh, and just before we got there, Adam had to show us this massive pair of cowboy boots and hat!

Then we stopped by where Adam works and we saw the new 787 Dreamliner. It was cool. We missed it taking off when we came home...it was schedule to take off while we were then and then it didn't actually take off until about 3 hours later :(
On Saturday night we went to Ivars after we already ate dinner (yummy mussels!). We tried out some fish and chips and the calamari platter. It was pretty good and then Adam said this other thing tasted like scrambled eggs and that's all I could think of for the rest of the night.
On Sunday, Adam took us around town just showing us all the pretty houses and a pretty park and then this Troll that was under an overpass. It's literally holding a VW bug!

Then he took us to this great burger joint called Dick's. It was great! That sounds pretty good right now too :) Then we sadly had to go home and pack up so we could get home. We had such a great time up there. We definitely want to go back up again...maybe when I get another break from school.
I hope everyone's New Year was just as wonderful. Happy 2010 everyone!

The next day we headed down to the Pike Street Market. I love that place. There is just so much variety there. Almost anything you're looking for could be around there someplace. I enjoyed the fresh made doughnuts. I wish I had some right now! Rich hadn't been there before so that was cool for him to go see everything.
This was just me playing around with the picture on the computer...

Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat ...
This morning I had to go get a filling. I haven't had one since I was a kid and it was in my baby teeth still! I've been really good with brushing and all that, but I somehow got one anyway. I was really nervous about going in because I remember the huge needle they used to get the Novocain in there. So I went in and luckily they have this gel stuff that numbs the gums first. So they numbed it and then put in the Novicain...I tell ya, that stuff is great! Didn't even feel the injection! I was actually super nervous, just waiting for it to go in and I waited and waited and waited and then he just putted it out of my mouth. Apparently it was all done! The rest of the procedure was pretty straight forward and I didn't have any issues. Now I just have a really numb mouth on one side. You should have seen me trying to get my chapstick on...oh man. Rich was laughing pretty hard so I'm sure it was pretty funny.
On to the Victory!!
I had so much time off this past month. It's been great just getting to relax and catch up on sleep and make all kinds of Christmas goodies! Speaking of which, I still have all the stuff for my Magic Cookie Squares that I never made...Looks like I'll be having some Christmas goodies in January!!
I've really loved having so much time off to just do the stuff I want to do and not all the stuff that I have to do like when I'm in school.
And the Defeat...
I start school again on Monday :( This weekend is my last weekend before school starts again. To make it much more bearable, we are going to go up and spend some time with Adam in Seattle!! We're pretty excited to go up there and spend some time with him. I hope we get to go do some fun things and go see some fun stuff. It's been a while since I've been in Seattle. I can't wait!
Well, I better get packing! Hope to update before school starts on Monday, but I don't think there will be any pictures (very sadly...). Our camera has decided to go kaput on us...most of the time. It gets this really weird looking pink streaks all over the screen and then all over the pictures when you try to take a picture. Maybe it will cooperate this weekend and we can remember our good time in pictures :)
