Yesterday was my first day of school. I have always gone to community colleges so it was a bit of a change for me. The classes are MUCH larger and there's not really air conditioning in most of the old buildings...which conveniently all my classes are in. Yesterday turned out to be a really hot day too!
My first class was DHE 180 (my only interior design class). I quickly found out that I already know all the material but I have to take the class anyway according to the department. I'm hoping that means I won't have to buy a textbook than! My second class was Anthropology 110. It's basically a video course on monday and wednesday and then discussions on friday. We don't have to come to class on monday or wednesday if we choose to and then watch the videos online. I'm not really looking forward to the class though becasue it is an Anthropology class so we already are going over some weird stuff. I have to take it though for my degree and to graduate. My third class is Sociology 205. I liked that class because the professor was pretty funny. It makes the class so much better if the professor has a sense of humor. The only drawback to this class was that I had the only desk in the entire class that was in the sun. It's also right next to the window...which wouldn't open. This class definitely did not have AC so I got waaaaaay too hot. I'll have to try to get there earlier and get a better seat. My fourth class was History 201. It's my only class that's 2 hours long and it definitly felt like it yesterday. It turns out it's not just a class about early US history...it's everything up until 1820. We learned all about the Siberians that came to North America and became the first Native Americans...all sorts of things. The professor is super picky on writing and so it should improve my writing skills during this course too. My last class of the day was Statistics 201. This class is also in a building with no AC. If they do have it, they didn't turn it on. I got to class 15 minutes early and I was in the back of a line about 100 people long for this class. I ended up sitting in the 9th out of 10 rows but I was lucky to get an end seat. There were probably close to 150 people in this class and it has no windows and no fans...nothing going on. It didn't help that just before our class there was another large class so it was already hot. Everyone was trying to fan themselves with notebooks and binders. It was pretty interesting.
So, in a nutshell that was my day....a really big nut, but oh well. I had a good time and I hope the rest of the term goes as smoothly.

Financial Aid
So I have been having some problems with Financial Aid at school. I had to fill out a FAFSA at the beginning of the year and then make corrections to it as things change. Well I had to change it because I got married. When I had problems correcting it I called the FAFSA people and they told me how to fix it and finish filling it out. I did that and then I get something in the mail saying that I need to fix something else, so I filled out those forms and sent them back. One day I was looking at OSU's site and it said that all of my financial aid had been taken away so I called OSU financial aid department and they said that I can't change my marital status from what the original application said. So I asked them if they were sure because I don't want to change the application again and then get something saying that I put false information on there....which would mean really big trouble...false information on a federal document! EEK! So they told me that they were told to do the applications that way so I got them to email me and then printed it out so I had proof (just in case) and then corrected my FAFSA for the 3rd or 4th time. I switched everything back and then submitted it and after 2 weeks it said that it was still processing. I called the FAFSA people and they told me that I neeeded to correct it back to single status because I couldn't change in the middle of the year. (Something they didn't tell me I had to do when I called the first time a few months ago...ugh!) I told her that I knew that and had submitted it and it was still processing. Turns out one of the signatures didn't go through so I did it again and the minute I saw it was processed I walked down the financial aid office and talked to a woman. She said she was really sorry that my aid had been taken away but I was early enough that she thought she could fix it. I was sooooo blessed because not only did I get some aid given back to me, it's enough to basically cover my tuition for the whole year!!! Praise the LORD! It may not seem like such a big deal but tuition at a university is around twice the price of a community college, so it would be a pretty good chunck. I just thank the Lord for working everything out. He is good

Hair
For my birthday, Rich let me go get my hair done! I was so excited but it took me a while to find somewhere I wanted to go. I just wanted to make sure that I would get my hair done how I wanted it and not just something I could have done myself. I finally found some place that I liked and I had a coupon for a free haircut with a color application. I got a really nice girl who knew exactly what I wanted and had no problem. She kept telling me how much she liked my hair. I felt really good about it! I'm glad Rich likes it too. It's not as drastic of a change as he was expecting I think, but he still likes it. Here's some pictures for you to see.

New Stuff
Recently I've been trying out some new stuff because I'm getting pretty bored with how it is right now. So, I have been curling my hair a lot. I think I'm finally getting the hang of it and it stays curled almost all day now. Sure I have to use a ton of hairspray but that doesn't matter, right?!This weekend Rich asked me what I wanted to do and we could go do anything I wanted. I said I would like some new jeans...ones without holes in the knees. It seems like lately all of my jeans got holes in the knees. I'll just be sitting down at the table and look down and think, when did I get a hole in these jeans. So we went out to find some jeans. It only took 5 pairs before I found the ones that fit the best. Then Rich got me a shirt too!! I really like the new stuff I just want to wear it all the time! I figured you would want to see the stuff so here it is!

And I figured Meg would want to see what the pockets look like :)

Camping, Fort Clatsop and Fort Stevens
This past weekend we went camping with our parents and family. We were in Fort Stevens for the weekend and had so much fun. On Saturday Rich went surfing with Robbie and Ryan and I went with my mom and dad and Tim and Joann to Fort Clatsop where Lewis and Clark lived for 3 months one winter. It was really neat because Sacagawea even stayed there that winter. Here are some pictures from Fort Clatsop.

So after this Tim and Joann went back to camp and mom and dad and I went to Fort Stevens...here are some pictures from that!

So that's pretty much our weekend in a nutshell. I had a lot of fun but now I'm so tired from just going all weekend long. It feels good to be home, but I would like to go back sometime. We had to go through Fort Stevens pretty quickly because they were supposed to close an hour after we got there. I would like to spend more time at each thing just looking.

Number 21
Yesterday was my birthday and so Rich said he would "build me a cake or something". I thought that the cake was great because it was my favorite...yellow cake with chocolate frosting, not just any chocolate frosting...chocolate frosting with sprinkles! It looked so pretty when he was all finished. Then we just hung around the house and played games. I had a good time.

Oh and the picture on the wall is my collage frame I talked about a few posts ago. You can click on the picture to zoom in and see it a little better.

Puzzle
So Rich and I got this puzzle for our wedding and we have been trying to put it together ever since. We thought that it would be easy and here we are 2 months later trying to get it together still. Well as of last night about 6...something, IT'S FINISHED!!! I can't believe it. I think we just set all the pieces out and tried every one of them until one fit somewhere. Now that it's done though I don't know what to do with it. I don't want to take it apart right away but it's been taking up our dining room table for 2 months now. Also last night we decided it was game time. We played some mancala and well..I lost all 3 times and then Rich thought he was on a role so he wanted to play scrabble. We played scrabble for like 2 hours and I couldn't believe it when he said he was out. The score was 228 to 225 but what ever tiles the other person has left, the add up the points and subtract them from their score and the other person gets to add it to their score...I had 2 points left so Rich won by 1 point last night...I didn't win a thing! I was amazed.

Let's go to the Beach!
Yesterday,Rich and I decided to go to the beach. We haven't been there in a while and it was supposed to be amazing...it definitely was. The sun was out without a cloud in the sky and no fog!!! It must have been at least 70 with very little wind so it was actually warm enough to lay out and get a tan! Rich went surfing but he said the water felt about 53 and not the 59 they said it was going to be. The waves were also pretty small and the water was more salty than usual. That's okay though, I think we still had fun...I know I did. I took a few pictures while we were there. Here they are!!

Here's Rich going out. He's the one with the arrow :)
Yearbook
Okay, so I did this because Meg really wanted me to. There is a website that lets you see what you would look like in a yearbook for 50 years. I picked out some of the better ones to put up on here.

Pears Pears Everywhere
Not too long ago, Rich and I went to pick pears at one of his boss's house. Of course we picked way more than we knew what to do with so we started canning. We were going to can them all but when we started to peel them and core them, some got a little too soft so we weren't quite sure what to do with them. We let them sit around in a bowl in the fridge for about 2 days and then I decided that the best thing to do was make pear butter. I've never had it and no one I talked to had ever had it before either but I decided to make it anyway. While in the middle of making pear butter I realized it looked more like apple sauce than apple butter so I must actually be making pear sauce. After all the pieces we used we only ended up with 2 jars of this pear stuff. I haven't really tasted it yet except for the little that splattered on my hand. I thought it was really good but I still think it's more like a sauce than a butter. Anyway, I took some pictures so you could see my first canning experience on my own...eek!
