Little Update

I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't forgotten about blogging, I've just been a little busy lately. I plan on putting up some pictures of all my pretty plants that are growing like crazy! I also plan to put up some pictures from our last weekend when we climbed Mount St. Helens.

I promise that I didn't forget about the blog...it's just been a little crazy with lots of stuff going on. I have also started a summer class this week. I go 2 hours a day, Monday-Thursday. It is a nutrition class and it's been pretty interesting so far. It's only 4 weeks too, so that will be nice. I'll have another class done and still practically have my whole summer left!

So, there will be more updates to come soon. I hope everyone is enjoying the sun while it's out! With the way this weather's been, who knows how long it will last!

The Garden...

So, our little garden is just growing away! Everything is coming up and growing just great! I'll keep the post short so you can get to the pictures.

Here is one of our tomato plants, flowering!

The carrots are growing little by little

Our bell pepper plant with a little flower
The parsley

Lettuce growing a little bit
The potatoes are growing. Some of the potatoes seem to want to come up but I just keep covering them back up and let them grow...but they're growing!

Rich's Rocket

This past weekend, Rich and I were sitting around the house and he was playing a little Rocket Robin in the morning. Then he turned to me and said, "Let's go get some model rockets!" So we went down to the hobby shop and picked out our rockets and paint and then came home for a day full of building and painting. This post is just going to show Rich's rocket because his is done. I'm still painting some of mine, so I'll post that soon when it's finished. So here's our day in pictures and Rich's rocket!

Rocket Robin Update

So Rich and I have been playing the Rocket Robin game again and he's made it up all the way up to 450,802 meters. Well, I was playing some this morning and I got 442,873 meters! I'm sooooo excited.

Just a screen shot of my amazing altitude!

So, how far can you make it?

It's Been An Early Morning...

This morning Rich and I were woken out of a dead sleep...well Rich was anyway. I got up at 4:30 because I had to use the bathroom and then I couldn't fall back asleep. I was almost back asleep when, at 5:00 there is an instant, gushing water sound. It sounded like there was water just pouring down the outside of our bedroom wall, only it wasn't outside...it was coming from next door. We were both pretty awake after a minute or so and we both thought, that's the sprinkler system.
While we were trying to figure out what was going on, the fire alarms started going off. Now these aren't your normal fire alarms like you have in your house...no these are like the ones you find in schools. We even have one of those really loud red boxes right outside our bedroom door and a bell that goes off outside. So as soon as those start going Rich and I get dressed and head outside. So we're standing outside for a minute or so and I say, "look at all the water poring off the porch of the apartment next door to ours!" Oddly enough the guy standing next to us was the guy that lived there. He said that it wasn't his because the water was pouring down his sliding door, so he thought it was someone above him.
After a little longer I noticed that there wasn't even the sound of firetrucks. I told Rich, "good thing this isn't a real fire, because it's sure taking the fire department a long time to get here!" A few minutes later the fire department did show up complete with oxygen tanks and axes. We immediately thought, someone's door is going to be bashed in. (Luckily no one's door was actually bashed in.)
It turns out that, each apartment has a sprinkler outside on their porch as well as sprinklers inside. The sprinkler outside on our neighbors porch had gone off. The firemen were really confused because sprinklers are supposed to do that, they don't go bad or get set off accidentally...they should only go off for a reason. So they had to replace the sprinkler before we were allowed back inside. They fixed the sprinkler, but I noticed they were still trying to figure it out while we all went back inside.
We ended up standing outside for about an hour in total. Luckily it wasn't raining like it's supposed to today...
So that was our morning. I'm completely awake now and I can tell it's going to be a loooong day. Now what am I going to do for 3 and a half hours until class starts?

Fun Game

Tonight, Rich was looking at a web site and I saw that they had some games on it. I decided that we should try one out and we ended up getting addicted to it. Here's the link to it so you can try it out for yourselves.

Rich's highest score was a little over 403,000 meters and mine was a little over 400,000 meters. Have fun and let us know how high you got in the atmosphere!

Plant Update...Again!

First, let me just say that I'm sorry that I haven't updated the blog in a while. Things have been busy and there hasn't been a whole lot going on to update you with. I did, however, want to update you on all our plants and what happened last weekend!

So about two weekends ago now, Rich and I were sitting outside because it was nice and sunny and warm. We were sitting there and all of a sudden Rich says, "Let's refinish the table!" So we went to Home Depot and he got a sander and some polyurethane (we already had some stain). He was so happy to have a project to do. Here's a picture of Rich working away...He was whistling most of the time because he was so happy!

Now onto some plants...
This last weekend we went up to St Helens and I came home with tomato plants, a bell pepper plant, lettuce seeds, carrot seeds and parsley seeds. We also built some planter boxes for all these veggies to go. I designed the boxes, Rich cut the wood and screwed a lot of one together (I did one side by myself) and then last night I made the other box all by myself! We got home and I planted all my veggies and ended up transplanting the potato to one of the boxes so the potatoes can grow a little bigger. When I transplanted the potato I found lots of little red potatoes growing...I was so excited! Now all our plants are getting bigger and enjoying the sun. I can't wait until the middle of summer so we can start harvesting some stuff!

Here are some pictures of our boxes and the new plants. Oh, and one of the wildflowers I planted with one of the bigger pots of daliahs, zennias, and lavendar.
